What Is Eczema?
Eczema (also known as dermatitis) is a dry skin condition that usually presents itself as patches anywhere on the body.
These patches can either be dry or moist, the latter usually being found in the folds of the arms and/or behind the knees. Whether dry or moist, eczema patches are extremely itchy and can cause the sufferer a great deal of distress.
Eczema doesn’t discriminate.
It affects men, women, young and old and is usually linked to respiratory conditions such as asthma and hayfever. Although it’s still not clear what causes eczema its presence is an indication of sensitive skin. If you’ve been diagnosed with eczema, chances are there is someone in your family who either has it or had it as well.
