RAW BEAUTY - Ayesha Malik

Has your hair always been natural? If not, when and why did you decide to go natural?
I've been natural for the past 4 years. Before that I would constantly dye, bleach, and straighten it.
How would you describe your hair type?
3A
How is your beautiful hair maintained? Please share your regimen:
I stay far away from sulfates, silicones, and parabens. I shampoo my hair once a week, deep condition 1 - 2 times a week and refresh with water in a flarisol bottle.
Do you trim your hair regularly? If so, how often do you get a trim?
I get a haircut once a year.
Do you style your own hair or do you go to hair salons?
Apply lots of hair gel and plop with my hair upside down as I diffuse.
How do you manage to get your curls so fabulously big or do you just have thick hair?
I thank my South Asian genetics everyday!
What tips would you give someone who wants to transition to natural hair? And what have you learnt about how to manage your fro in general over the years?
Do you think you’ll ever cut your fro off and try a different hairstyle, e.g. pixie cut or locs?
No, I have worked way too hard on this length. As for hairstyle, I am too scared of being called out for cultural appropriation. So no braids or pretty protective hairstyles for me.
What do you love most about your hair?
That it shows that I am an extremely disciplined person. You don't get curls this healthy without years of hard work.
What do you hate most about your hair?
It's so sensitive. I can't experiment with color or heat even just for a day.
